Sample Days Preschool and Junior Kindergarten

Preschool

8:45 am

Co-oping parents and Emergency Parent arrive, sign-in, select work area, select game/story for snack time, prepare station, and talk with teacher.

9:00 am

Children arrive, sign in and are greeted by teacher. All areas are open for play.

9:25 am

1st Circle Time: Sing greeting song; children introduce their co-opers and their activity; sharing: Surprise Can, class mascot, scissors suitcase, and birthdays are recognized.

9:40 am

Activity Time: Children are engaged in planned activities and spontaneous play the environment provides.

10:00 am 

Snack Time: Co-oper will lead 3-5 children in a game or will read a story while they share a provided snack.

10:15 am

Activity Time: Children participate in planned activity stations lead by co-opers or free play.

11:00 am

Clean-up Time: Children and co-opers clean-up areas together.

11:15 am 

2nd Circle Time: stories, music, fingerplays, songs, readers theatre, dance, movement, and fun! Surprise Can, class mascot, and scissor suitcase are handed out for the next class.

Good-bye song.

11:30 am

Dismissal: Kids are signed out by designated adult and depart.

11:35 am 

Talk Over: Snack parent supervises kids of co-oping parents, while co-oping parents discuss the day’s events.

11:50 am

All co-opers sign out their children and depart

Sample Day – Pre-K and Junior Kindergarten

12:00 pm
Co-oping parents arrive: Adult belongings in the kitchen. Assist child in putting snack in cubby. Select center area for the day. Read activity for the day, job card, and ask any questions of the teacher.

12:15 pm
Door opens/First Circle: Sing Good Day song and count attendance. Quick briefing at Circle area with children & co-opers about centers. Class Mascot, Scissor Suitcase, and Scheduled Birthday announced.

Centers/Table time

Second circle/Follow-up & Transition: Everyone joins circle to tell about your area and what you learned, made, created, discovered. Tell us if center will be extended for inside/outside time.

1:00 pm
Outside/Inside Time: Science co-oper & her/his child will go check on the chickens. Children will be dismissed from circle to choose inside/outside play.

1:30 pm
Snack Time: Encourage conversation. Students clean up after themselves and are encouraged to recycle and rinse containers.  Children put away own lunch/snack boxes.

1:45 pm
Inside/Outside Free Play: This time can be used for free play.  Encourage the kids to play board games, open carpentry (with adult supervision), bring Stegel outside, build blocks inside, write stories in writing center.

2:10 pm
Clean Up Time: Involve children by giving them simple tasks and working cooperatively.

2:20 pm
Final Circle Time: Sharing from co-oping kids, music, reader's theatre, gross motor activities, and birthday celebrations.

2:45 pm
Dismissal: Pick up children. Sign out and check mailboxes. Take home art. Carpools leave immediately. Science parent stays at front door with teacher to see that children do not leave school without designated adult. Other co-opers check for school neatness.

2:50 pm
Talk-over. Co-opers discuss any issues during the day.

3:00 pm
All co-opers sign out their children and depart.
